KOBER 5 BB is recommended as a phylloxera-resistant rootstock.
Growth strength: In the first year, the growth vigor of the shoots is moderate, while in subsequent years, the shoot length can reach 4 meters or more.
Average shoot diameter: 7–9 mm. By the end of the vegetation period, 80% of the shoots mature.
The buds and roots are resistant to cold. Lateral shoot formation: moderate.
The root system is stronger compared to other varieties, with lateral roots spreading widely in the soil around the vine.
The taproot grows actively, ensuring good vine development even in areas with limited water reserves and insufficient irrigation for other varieties.
However, Kober 5 BB does not develop well in areas where groundwater is close to the soil surface.
During the growth of Kober 5 BB shoots, they must be tied to supports because the base of the shoots is somewhat fragile.
